Set in the quiet village of Sangolda, Porvorim, Ava is a contemporary tropical villa that reinterprets Goan-Portuguese heritage through a modern lens. Entered through laterite walls and carved teal doors, the home reveals itself gradually—leading into a dramatic living space overlooking the Saligao plateau.

Inspired by the philosophy of susegad, the design embraces a slow, nature-oriented lifestyle, blurring indoor and outdoor boundaries. A 16-foot glass façade anchors the living space, while a palette of stone, wood, and soft neutrals enhances the surrounding landscape with warmth and restraint.

Built across 6900 sq ft, the villa responds to its sloping site with a layered, sub-terranean form—heavier laterite volumes below and lighter white structures above. Dynamic planning creates varied floorplates and spatial transitions, culminating in a bright, expansive living core that feels both grounded and open.
